Intelligent Traffic Management of Shanghai Donghai Bridge

JSTI joined hands with 7 units including Shanghai Port Group, SAIC Motor, China Mobile, and Utopilot to jointly explore a new chapter in the integrated development of intelligent transportation and intelligent logistics. Relying on the cutting-edge 5G + L4 technology and integrating multiple sensors, high-precision maps, ground-augmented positioning, and visual-laser perception systems, the project has successfully constructed an intelligent logistics loop between the Donghai Bridge and the Yangshan Deepwater Port, realizing the demonstration operation of the "unmanned" cross-sea collection and distribution of intelligent heavy trucks.

Innovation Points

1. All-Weather Traffic Guarantee

The project has made a breakthrough in applying the technologies of radar-vision fusion, radar-vision linkage, and vehicle-road coordination, effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional perception technologies in terms of distance, night, and extreme weather conditions. Through all-round and dead-angle-free environmental perception and real-time monitoring, the traffic safety of the Donghai Bridge in all weather conditions and throughout the entire section has been ensured, further enhancing the handling capacity of the road under super-saturated traffic flow.

2. Whole-Process Vehicle Tracking

By combining the existing video equipment with the newly deployed radar-vision integrated machines and through advanced edge-end data fusion technology, the project has realized the automatic monitoring of vehicle trajectories, continuous tracking across devices, and instant warning of abnormal events.

3. Second-Level Warning and Doubled Efficiency

The project has successfully realized the advanced driving assistance coordination of the trunk logistics in the port area. Vehicles can be automatically grouped, and traffic events can be warned in seconds and responded to quickly. It is expected that by 2025, the loop traffic efficiency will be increased by at least 100%, which is equivalent to "building a new Donghai Bridge" without adding physical infrastructure.
